My Dream Room
Lesson Objectives
- To design a personalized 3D room interior within a interior box perspective.
- To apply visual symbolism by selecting and drawing 3 items that express personal identity or comfort.
- To articulate creative choices using target sentence frames (“My dream room has a…” / “I like this because…”).

Activity Sequence
- Introduction / Warm-Up & Art Inquiry (10 mins)
- Present Vincent van Gogh’s The Bedroom and Henri Matisse’s The Red Studio.
- Facilitate a quick turn-and-talk: “What do the objects and colors in these rooms tell us about the artist who lives there?”
- Guided Demo & Perspective Setup (10 mins)
- Demonstrate how the 3D box on the worksheet represents floor, back wall, and side walls.
- Model adding furniture (e.g., bed, desk, window, posters) adhering to simple perspective guidelines.
- Model completing one sentence frame on the board with visual emphasis on target vocabulary.
- Independent Studio Work & Writing (20 mins)
- Students design and detail their “Dream Room” drawing inside the SVG worksheet box using pencil, fine marker, or colored pencils.
- Students choose 3 key features from their room and complete the writing section sentence frames.
- Teacher circulates to offer language scaffolding for ELL students and drawing guidance for spatial depth.
- Peer Share & Reflection (5 mins)
- Students partner up and read one of their completed sentence frames while pointing out the drawn object in their 3D room box.
